About ROMAWAT Design
What is ROMAWAT Design?
Principal members of ROMAWAT design are Marie L. Watkins and Ross A. Watkins (husband and wife).
ROMAWAT gets its name from the
first two letters of each of the principal members’ names (RO + MA) and the
first three letters of their last name (WAT).
The company name represents the work/life partnership to which they have
dedicated themselves.
ROMAWAT Design is
based on the belief that a piece of furniture should be both functional
and beautiful. Ross builds furniture and leaded glass pieces that reflect
the simple lines and craftsmanship of the Mission, Craftsman, Prairie, and Arts
and Crafts movements. Utilizing
a blend of traditional and high-tech methods and tools, we can build our
customers’ dreams in a timely and cost-effective manner without sacrificing
quality or style. Relying on her extensive business background and retail
management experience, Marie handles all back-office functions for the
business. Marie's end is business; Ross is the business end.
Who is ROMAWAT Design?
ROMAWAT Design is owned and operated by Marie and Ross Watkins and is headquartered in Ramona, CA.
Marie Watkins:
Born and raised in Wisconsin, Marie has a BA from the UC-San Diego and an MA from Claremont Graduate University. Marie has extensive business experience in a variety of industries at companies ranging in size from two to almost 500 employees. She has held management positions in the retail and corporate arenas. Marie has a solid record of assuring high customer and client satisfaction while meeting or exceeding the operational and financial goals of the company.
Within ROMAWAT Design, Marie is responsible for all the compliance issues, marketing, billing and all other business functions.
Ross Watkins:
Born and raised in Hawaii, Ross has a BS in engineering from Harvey Mudd College. Ross recently retired from a career in engineering where his specialty was embedded systems programming (the “guts” that make the cool things work!) He has worked on projects for cable TV set top boxes, the Globalstar satellite phone system, and various next-generation hand-held devices including four generations of handheld “tablet PC”. Currently, Ross is attending Palomar College for some advanced courses in woodworking.
Within ROMAWAT Design, Ross is the main designer and visionary for how a product will turn out. His superior attention to the details of craftsmanship makes him the final arbiter of what actually gets shipped.
